CYBERCRIME
is the
C-
“Crime of the Century”. Many people were victims to this.
Actually, anyone can be a victim to this. According to statistics,
Y-
youth are one of the common “targets” of these cyber
attackers. Many young people were being attacked through social media
sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to name a few. This means
that we must have to
B-
be very careful and watchful, for we don’t know who will be
the next victim is.
E-
E-mail spoofing, E-mail hijacking, phishing and pharming are
dangerous. For us users of the internet, it
R-
requires great preventive caution and alertness. For nowadays,
C-
computers had been widely used and therefore creates a very
wide medium for “hi-tech crimes” like online bank
R-
robbery, online fraud, online stalking, theft of information,
and the worst of all,
l-
identity theft. And also, vulnerability of the internet,
though not intended, gives the freedom for these criminals to create
M-
malwares (malicious+software) that are equally dangerous.
Truly, in our modern times, crimes can be encountered
E-
everywhere- even in the virtual world.
So this wants to tell each one of us
that we must have to be very careful and practice the “Think Before
You Click” habit so that we won’t be added to the numerous
victims of the so called “CYBERCRIMINALS”.
Reflection:
Believe it or not,
many young people today were “slaves” to technology. Some of them
fully rely to the things technology provides for them. Consequently,
some are not aware of the dangers that they might be encountering in
using such thing. Many were not fully informed, thus it makes a lot
of people to be extremely vulnerable to the cruel intentions of the
so called “cybercriminals”.
Therefore, as an
education student, through the seminar I attended about cybercrime, I
can share all the information that I learned from it through this
blog (that I can actually post on the University’s Facebook page
for a wider medium of disseminating such important information). And
also if possible, I can also organize a seminar about cybercrime with
the help of legitimate NBI officials and other Government
Organizations (GO’s) with the same advocacy. But in order for this
seminar to come into reality, I will request for help from all the
deans of the different departments of the university and every
president of the university’s student organizations to persuade the
students to join the activity by making them realize the importance
of such information.
With this advocacy
in my mind, I hope that if this activity would be conducted in the
near future will help a lot of students like me to realize the true value of
properly using any computer both inside and outside of the university.
If this vision will
happen, many people will be saved from the evil doings of such dangerous
criminals of the virtual world.
